What Margin reads. And where it puts it.

Margin gathers your due dates from the course sites you already use, and keeps them in a free side panel, and in your Todoist if you connect it.

Canvas

Tell Margin your school's Canvas address once. Stay signed in to Canvas as you are. There's no API token to make: Margin reads your upcoming assignments through the session your browser is already signed in to.

On the free tier, your Canvas assignments and calendar feeds sync for the next week. The Margin Pass keeps the whole term. The Canvas to Todoist guide walks through setup.

Calendar feeds

Blackboard, D2L, and Moodle work once you add the iCal calendar feed your school publishes. You paste the feed link into Margin once, in Settings, and upcoming due dates come in with your Canvas work.

Margin adds feeds from school sites (.edu and .ac.uk), the major LMS providers, and Google, Outlook, and iCloud calendars.

With the Pass

The Margin Pass is $9.99, paid once, for the semester, and it does not renew. It adds the whole term, PrairieLearn, and sending an imported syllabus to Todoist. The details are on the pricing page.

Anything else

Select text on a page, right-click and choose Send to Margin to read it like a pasted syllabus.

Browsers

Margin is a Chrome extension, from the Chrome Web Store (opens in a new tab). It runs in recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium-based browsers. Safari and Firefox aren't supported yet, and there is no iOS or Android version.

Schools

We test against each platform on each campus before adding it to the supported list. What works in Canvas at one school sometimes breaks at another. Tested so far:

Schools whose platforms should work, pending a campus check, are listed on the specs page.
